In this series Peter Shaw will spotlight the new suite of S-PLUS Big Data objects and functions now available in S-PLUS Enterprise Developer 7. Users who are new to the Big Data capabilities of S-PLUS will learn how to rapidly apply these methods to their own data sets.  These new functions can be applied both to Big Data and "regular" S-PLUS objects, so users can immediately begin incorporating the functions into their existing scripts and functions.

Part two of this three-part web cast series will

• Review Big Data objects
• Introduce Big Data graphical and some modeling methods using a case history
• Review the uniform syntax of the new functions

We will examine common cases where older graphical and modeling scripts have run into difficulties when applied to large data sets, and demonstrate how to convert these scripts to use the new Big Data functions, a portion at a time.

Future Web casts in this Big Data series will focus on some advanced methods.
