CONNECT/Java®
CONNECT/Java is an interface that allows you
to develop custom Java applications which access
the S-PLUS engine to perform analyses and generate
graphics. CONNECT/Java can be used to develop
very flexible and powerful Java-based applications
that meet the precise requirements of users within
your organization.
S-PLUS® 6includes a local version of CONNECT/Java,
allowing Java applications to communicate with
S-PLUS on the local machine.
S-PLUS Server extends the CONNECT/Java interface
from local to remote Java connectivity by providing
a client/server interface. This allows you to
develop scalable applications that serve large
numbers of users. This connectivity also enables
you to build custom distributed applications,
such as custom Java clients or web-based applications.
Analytic Server provides an example of web-based
architecture using Java Servlets as the transactional
session manager, which manage incoming requests
for analysis from web browser clients and the
available S-PLUS sessions. This example can be
used as a template for implementing your own web-based
application.
