S-PLUS 6.0 Release 2 Service
Pack Installation Instructions
Important
Note:
-
Before installing the patch,
please completely shut down S-PLUS.
-
During installation of the
service pack, a dialog entitled Select Update
Options appears, with a check box labeled
S-PLUS Program Files.
Make sure the program files check box is selected.
If the service pack finds an installed prior revision of
S-PLUS, the "Program Files" check box is selected automatically.
If the check box is not selected, select it and then specify
the appropriate path using the Browse button.
After verifying that the path is correct in the Select
Update Options dialog, click Next. Proceed with installation
as prompted on your screen, until you see the Update Message dialog.
The Update Message dialog informs you that your preference
files specifying menus, toolbars, and so on need updating.
If you want to preserve your existing user interface (because,
for example, you have created custom menus and toolbars that
you want to continue to use), click No to skip this update
step. Note, however, that if you do not update your
preference files, Insightful's changes to the user interface
will not appear in your installation.
The service pack may attempt to update files not found in
your installation. If this occurs, the service pack issues
warnings that appear in both the Finish Update dialog and
the patch.err file in your S-PLUS installation directory.
These warnings are harmless and can be safely ignored.
To Update Your Program
- Save the downloaded file for your
edition of S-PLUS into a directory on your hard drive
by clicking on a link below.
- Run this file. It is self-extracting
and will update your current S-PLUS installation files.
To use the service pack, you must
have the appropriate S-PLUS revision and edition installed
on your machine. To find out which edition and revision
of S-PLUS you have installed on your machine, go to
Help: About S-PLUS or type "version" in the Commands
Window.
