Please note: S-PLUS 7.0 has been superseded by a later release (8.0.4) on Solaris and Linux. Click here for information about S-PLUS 8.0.4.

You can check the version you have by typing version at the S-PLUS command line. Information on the previous release is also available.

Getting Started

Instructions on how to install S-PLUS 7.0 can be found on the CD-ROM in the file INSTALL.TXT. S-PLUS 7.0 can be installed alongside an existing installation of S-PLUS 6.2 or earlier. It is not necessary to uninstall any previous version of S-PLUS.

The new features in S-PLUS 7.0 for Unix improve upon S-PLUS 6.2 in the following areas:

• S-PLUS Eclipse Workbench Developer Tools

Available in S-PLUS 7 Enterprise Developer and S-PLUS Professional

• New correlatedData library
• Improvements to timeSeries objects
• FLEXnet license management system
• Various new functions and other minor new capabilities

There are also a number of enhancements to existing functions,
and improvements to quality in several areas.

Please read the Release Notes to learn more about the new features in S-PLUS 7.0. You can find them on the CD-ROM in the file RELNOTES.TXT.

Before you start using S-PLUS, we suggest reading the Getting Started Guide. For new users, it includes a step-by-step tutorial on reading, visualizing and analyzing data in S-PLUS 7.0.

The Getting Started Guide was included with your copy of S-PLUS, and can be found in the doc subdirectory of the S-PLUS installation directory as the file getstart.pdf. You can find the location of the S-PLUS installation directory by typing Splus7 SHOME at the shell prompt.

Latest News

S-PLUS 7.0.6 patch is available. This patch will update S-PLUS 7.0.3 to S-PLUS 7.0.6. Do not use this patch with earlier versions of S-PLUS, e.g. S-PLUS 7.0.2.

S-PLUS 7.0.3 patch is available. This patch will update S-PLUS 7.0 or 7.0.2 to S-PLUS 7.0.3. Do not use this patch with earlier versions of S-PLUS, e.g. S-PLUS 6.2.

Additional libraries for S-PLUS are available as beta-test downloads from Insightful Labs.
