SUPPORTED PLATFORMS, SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS, AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

For information about the supported versions of Linux and the system
requirements, as well as instructions for installing all required
components, refer to the install.html file (located at the top level of
this CD).

GETTING STARTED

For information about the server and paths to developer and server
admininstation documentation, see the file Getting_Started.htm (located
at the top level of your installation directory).

COMPILER INFORMATION

32- and 64-bit Linux versions of S-PLUS 8 Enterprise Server use the
gfortran compiler (instead of the g95 compiler). With gfortran, you do
not have to download a specific compiler from the g95 project, and you
can get gfortran using your distribution's normal channels (it is
shipped with all three supported platforms: RHEL4, RHEL5, and SuSE).

KNOWN ISSUES

--If you plan to call the Java, JavaScript, or URL APIs on an https
  server, the client machine calling the APIs must first import the 
  SSL certificate for that server machine.
  For more information about importing the certificate, see
  http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/ssl-howto.html on the Apache
  Tomcat Web site (external link).

--The Java AdministrationService API method interrupt() always 
  returns false.

--When you start or re-start Tomcat, a CachemManager warning will appear 
  consistently and multiple times in the SplusServer.log.  This warning 
  causes no actual problems with starting Tomcat.

--Running Uninstall deletes SplusServer.xml. Before you uninstall, reinstall, 
  or update the S-PLUS Enterprise Server, make a back up copy of this file to 
  preserve your settings.

--Running Uninstall does not remove the WebApp folder.

UNINSTALLING THE SERVER

Please contact Technical Support for instructions.

BEFORE YOU UNINSTALL, REINSTALL, OR UPDATE THE S-PLUS ENTERPRISE SERVER
make a back up copy of SplusServer.xml to preserve your settings.

Note that running Uninstall does not remove the WebApp folder.
